What do you think and does this place any importance in Music Education? Should we teach this to our students? Should we bother? It would be neat to hear from some of you.:)
I definetly think it is worth sharing and teaching because it is pretty interesting along with the hypothesis on his portraits. We also get an closer and almost accurate picture of how he might have looked like and get a frist impression.

Oh dear!
I'm going to go to my corner and cry now (just kidding). Well maybe this would be good to show to our students because it is simply a case of, "not everything is what it seems". Then, we could explain to our students that it's not his face that his fans admired, it was his music, and that we should never judge a book by its cover!
Exactly!!! I was trying to see if anyone would catch on,lol. He was quite the partier apparently and loved life. He just wasn't the stereotypical composer of that era ( with the exception of Mozart because he was truly crazy) he was a fun guy. Great lesson I think. This should be done often with other composers. It would be interesting.
Why do we need to see what Bach really looked like? I could care less, and I'm sure that our students could care even less than I do.
That's all.
Ck
I dunno, i honestly will always see him as the man in the portraits that we have been seeing up to this point in time. I'm not sure as a student I really would have cared about this issue, since its not exactly an issue. I feel like there is a lot more important stuff to teach our students than this.
eh.... looks aren't everything? He made beautiful music, that should enough. Also... I mean... he really didn't look all that different hahaha -- except for the hair, which did make me laugh.
